A donor‐advised fund (DAF) provides donors with a centralized charitable account. It allows individuals, families and businesses to make a donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF and take an immediate tax deduction.

Grow your impact and passion for giving back by hosting a United Way campaign at your workplace. We can provide all the tools and resources you need and even have staff available to support your fundraising efforts. 

You can support United Way of the Piedmont by donating stock from your E*TRADE brokerage or stock plan account. You may also be eligible to make a donation from your E*TRADE IRA account through Qualified Charitable Contributions (QCDs). 

If you’re at least 59½ years old, you can take a distribution and make a gift from your IRA without penalty and take a charitable deducion if you itemize. If you’re a retiree over age 70½, you must start taking required minimum distributions (RMDs) from your individual retirement account every year. By making a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), you can donate all or a portion of your RMDs, up to $100,000 a year, directly to charities like our United Way.
