Board service for our African American Leadership Society, Women United, and Young Leaders donor networks is a perfect opportunity to step up engagement with our work and deepen impact in our community. Roles and Responsibilities of All Advisory Board Members


1. Stay current with your annual financial pledge to the work of UWP - Young Leaders $100; African American Leadership $500; Women United $1,000.

2. Serve a term of 3 years, with the option of serving 2 consecutive terms.

3. Attend and participate in Advisory Board meetings (4 per year). If unable to attend, use meeting minutes to catch up on information shared/decisions made.

4. Establish and execute annual goals surrounding membership growth, fundraising, and/or community education.

5. Attend and promote UWP social, educational, and engagement events (such as Signature Projects) within personal and professional networks.

6. Participate actively by serving as a spokesperson for UWP in the community and maintaining communication with UWP staff, Advisory Board members, and other Donor Network members at-large, as requested.

7. As needed, participate on a sub-committee. (Examples of sub-committees: Volunteer, Social, or Governance)

8. Agree to UWP’s Code of Ethics.

General Daniel Morgan Society

Established in 1986, the General Daniel Morgan Leadership Society recognizes and celebrates individuals who demonstrate their commitment to our community by investing in United Way of the Piedmont at the leadership level. The confidence in United Way demonstrated by a leadership level investment sets an example of philanthropic involvement for others.


Investments of $1,000 or more annually qualify for membership in the General Daniel Morgan Society. Membership includes access to exclusive United Way events, educational opportunities, and more. Donate today to join!

General Daniel Morgan Society

Established in 1986, the General Daniel Morgan Leadership Society recognizes and celebrates individuals who demonstrate their commitment to our community by investing in United Way of the Piedmont at the leadership level. Investments of $10,000 or more annually qualify for membership in the Alexis de Tocqueville Society. As a Tocqueville member, you will have opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of issues and explore ways you can have a positive impact on our community.
