AmeriCorps is the federal agency for volunteering and national service. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve full-time for one year to build capacity of organizations dedicated to alleviating poverty in their communities.
VISTAs in the Piedmont is a program hosted by United Way of the Piedmont in Spartanburg, SC, since 2006. VISTA members support their host sites by strengthening programs, securing resources, and setting up better systems. Through this service, VISTA members help these organizations achieve their missions and build lasting solutions to alleviate poverty, so that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
